How to create a Make Your Own (MYO) Yoto Card for Music Together Songs with a matching label
My family and I LOVE Music Together and a lot of parents have asked me about getting their latest (or favorite!) Music Together class music onto their Yoto.
Good news! It's super easy :)
If this is your first time doing a Make Your Own Yoto card, don't worry! Just think of it like burning a CD or making a mix tape. The important concepts are just:
- You create a Yoto Playlist in the app or in a browser, that is where you will upload music (mp3 or m4a files), icons (optional), and cover art (optional, just for the app).
- You then Link that Playlist to a MYO card so when you put the card in a Yoto player, your Playlist plays (this let's you reuse a MYO card by linking it to a different playlist later!)
That's the hardest concept, I swear! If that makes sense this will all be a breeze. If it doesn't make sense, you can always email me to ask for help, or keep going in this article and it will still probably be a breeze for you! Yoto makes this easy.
Step 1: Download your class music from Music Together
First, you will need to grab your songbook or download card from your Music Together class. Then, head to the Family Music Zone at musictogether.com/familymusiczone. If you don't have a Music Together account yet, you'll need to create one to log in.
Next, you need to prove to Music Together that you have paid for a class. That's where the book or card comes in! There will be a code printed on the inside cover of your songbook or on the download card that you input when making your account, or under the "Access Code" section if you're already logged in.
After you're logged in and you have added your access code, head to the "Music Library" section:

Scroll down, and then you'll see all of the songs from classes you have put in an Access Code for. Click on the COLLECTION NAME to download all the music from a course:

All of the course songs will download as a .zip file, which Windows and Mac can both just open now! Once you unzip the folder (double click the file on Mac, or right-click and "Extract All" on Windows), you will have the mp3 files you need for your Yoto card!
If you have any technical issues with the Music Together site (which is actually a pretty well built site!), they have their own guide to logins and adding courses here as well.
How do I get my course songs on the MYO card now that I have the Music Together mp3s?
Good news! I have a full writeup on creating a MYO card already, so if you need some instructions on making your first MYO, just head on over to this other blog post and follow the instructions! There is info on making a Playlist, uploading icons (and where to find them!), and more.
How do I make my MYO card look amazing?
That's where I come in! I sell customized MYO card labels, or even MYO with labels on them! You can always use the stickers that came in your MYO pack, but if you want your brand new MYO card to look like the rest of your Yoto cards (and also to make it easy for kids younger than reading age!), just go place an order over here and I'll take care of making an amazing looking label that matches the course art! Your cards will be looking like this (after some amount of shipping time!):
And that's it! You can have a beautiful, functional Music Together Yoto card in no time at all!
